MARC LEVEQUE

Prof. Dr. Marc Leveque
Neurosurgeon

Dr. Marc Lévêque is a renowned French neurosurgeon specializing in pain surgery and functional neurosurgery.

After initially training in psychiatry, he specialized in neurosurgery and has an international background, having completed training in France, Belgium, and Canada, as well as serving as a physician at the French Embassy in Beijing.

Formerly a senior resident at La Timone Hospital in Marseille and a hospital practitioner at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, he now practices in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, focusing on the management of chronic pain and spinal disorders.

He is particularly involved in the development of innovative pain management techniques, notably neuromodulation (spinal cord stimulation), which he advocates as an alternative to purely drug-based approaches. Author of several reference works in neurosurgery and pain management, including Pain Surgery and Surgery of the Soul, he actively contributes to the scientific and ethical discourse surrounding pain treatments.

Through his clinical expertise and commitment to therapeutic innovation, Dr. Marc Lévêque provides essential insights into modern strategies for managing complex pain, particularly coccygeal pain. Author of articles on coccydynia, he now has a significant practice in this field after medical training in Paris under Professor Jean-Yves Maigne and surgical training in Marseille under Professor Levon Doursounian.
